设计起源

总体规划

本设计的意图是在鄂尔多斯康巴什新城中心区建成一个展现内蒙古生态，文化特色，体现高科技含量的世界现代化城区。

作为鄂尔多斯市新行政文化中心，如何在城市设计的层面上反映蒙古的特色是摆在设计师面前的第一个问题。本设计构思基于蒙元自然地理丰富景观起伏变化，既有芳草如茵的美丽草原，又有开阔坦荡的波状高原，精炼他们在空间上的关系和构成，使用优美流畅的线条勾勒出鄂尔多斯新城市景象和文化建筑。

在总平面设计的方面，延续以往“草原上升起不落的太阳“的主题，但在设计处理上更注重建筑单体的聚集感受，没有单独的建筑特别和突兀，而是整体的协调和统一。突出地块南北建筑的风格变化，一种是简洁硬朗和厚重，一种则是舒展柔美和轻巧，从不同角度阐释蒙元的多文化包容的特色。

深化了“草原上升起不落的太阳“的概念，具体到人性化，生活场景化，建筑师深信在现今以及未来，广场的职能将由最初的政治功能，到西方单纯的图形构成元素最终演变为聚集人气的广场，人们自己休闲娱乐的地方， 市民可以在这里享受午后的阳光，带上全家老小流连于此，孩子们可以在这里放风筝，做游戏等等， 尽情享乐…

从新演绎城市现代的蒙元村落。

THE ORIGIN OF THE DESIGN

The Master-plan

The aim of this design is to establish a brand new contemporary international urban district within the central area of Kang Ba Shi city, Erdos; represent the Mongolian environment, cultural characters, and the advanced technology.

As the new administration core of the city of Erdos, the design needs to reflect the Mongolian cultural characteristics at the urban planning scale, it developed from the beautiful grassland and the spacious plateau, simplified their spatial forms and relationships, draw fluent lines together to create the new architecture of Erdos.

In terms of masterplan, the subject “Rising sun from the grassland” is continued as usual, however, the design here concentrated more on emphasizing the collective impression, with no standing out individuals, to create a coherent and integrated unity.

The architectural manner of the buildings varies from the north to the south, simple and sharp on one hand, soft and spreading on the other, demonstrating the multi-cultural characters of Mongolia from different angles.

To understand the idea “Rising sun from the grassland that never set” in more depth, the architects believe that this more friendly and intimating square would transcend the normal concepts of form making, to create a vitalizing place for gathering. People could enjoy the afternoon sun here with the whole family, the elderly and the young; a contemporary Mongolian urban atmosphere is harmoniously established.

建筑单体

在地块的北面，靠近创业大厦的位置，是图书馆 和历史与科技展览馆(博物馆)两处建筑，由于靠近政府的核心的原因，在体形的处理上还是采用简洁而刚劲的线条和与功能相应的空间变化，例如博物馆部分，高低不同的处理不仅可以满足的采光的要求，并且创造了活泼和丰富的空间。

在地块的南面，太阳的中心，坐落了主要四处的文化建筑，其中包括 新闻中心，会展中心，民族剧院和文化艺术中心，由于他们分布在圆形广场的四周，在体形的处理上有很多的相似的手法，在大体量中，“大中见小“ 利用院落，错层等不同的空间处理手法分割不同的使用区域，同时解决了室内采光问题，合理使用地下的空间。尽量给城市和广场留有足够空间。

在建筑的细部处理上，没有简单得抄袭某个构建和简单的建筑语言，而更多的考虑更深一层蒙古建筑的特色精华， 如得到蒙古包的构筑方式的启发，设计了极具现代感的新“蒙古包”外皮,有机的成为立面的一个组成部分等。在墙面上，抽象了传统的蒙古图案和文字，与灯光处理相得益彰

Individual buildings:

The library and the history and technology museum are located in the north of the site. Because of the adjacency to the government, the physical forms are composed by simple and sharp lines; and the spatial variation follows the functional requirements. For instance, the different level changes of the museum not only satisfied the day lighting requirements, but also created a lively and interesting space.

The four major cultural buildings are located towards the south of the site, including the media centre, the exhibition centre, the national theatre, and the cultural arts centre. They are distributed around the circular square with similar physical appearance.   In terms of volumes, the concepts inspired by the courtyard, the variable level changes, and other spatial arrangement techniques have divided the complex into different functional zones, and solved the day lighting problems at the same time. Also, the reasonable underground layout saved enough space for the urban square on top.

For the details of the design, no simple copy of certain elements or architectural language is applied, more characteristic Mongolian architectural manner is considered, inspired by the structural form of the Mongolian yurts, the design created a contemporary “yurt” membranes,  and organically become as part of the façade. On the wall there, the Mongolian patterns and text are abstracted, together with the lightening design, brings out the best in each other.

广场细部设计

保留“草原上升起不落的太阳“的主题，通过运用空间分割的手法减小空间尺度，如不同材质的运用，水体，砂石，植被等的组合的空间高度的人性化设计势必营造适合市民活动的空间，同时考虑不同的树种，利用它们高度的变化强化“光芒四射“的感觉。中心广场的手法也逐渐融合到建筑地块的总平面设计中，折线和景观自然地划分建筑以外剩下的地块，已达到广场和建筑相互渗透的关系。

Detail design of the square

Having kept the subject “Rising sun from the grassland that never set”, the spatial scale is modified by using spatial dividing techniques, such as applying different materials, water features, rockeries, and plants. Those different spatial level changes and intimate friendly designs would without any doubt create a comfortable urban space for the community.  A variety of plant species are considered here, to enhance the pearlescent impression by their different heights. The manner of the central square is gradually intergraded into the masterplan design; the landscape divided the extra spaces in a natural way, and well established the penetrating relationship between the square and the buildings.

会展中心  在未来这里将演变为鄂尔多斯经济与世界经济连接的一处桥梁，人们可以更好地了解鄂尔多斯乃至内蒙古地区。 在建筑设计处理上，采用朴素的石材和玻璃对比强调简洁的形体和体量的完整性，但素雅中不缺变化和设计，如建筑立面的不垂直的镜面玻璃反射出环境的起伏和变化，从而让在建筑的人和环境有一种良性的呼应。

The exhibition centre

The exhibition centre is going to be the bridge that links the international economy and the Erdos’, people could have a better understanding of Erdos and the Mongolia region. In terms of the architectural design, the austere stone material forms a contrast with the glass, and reveals the simple shape and volume of the integrated unity. However, there is no lack of design and variations, such as the tilting glass façade which could reflect the undulating and changing environment, at the same time, establish a positive connection between people and the surrounding environment.

民族剧院  历史上的那达慕大会在蒙古语为“娱乐”或“游戏”之意，是蒙古族传统的群众性集会，每年大致在农历七、八月份这一水草丰茂、牛羊肥壮的季节举行。今天鄂尔多斯人们不用在等到特别的季节就可以在新建筑重聚会，在这里狂欢。在建筑设计处理上，除了满足建筑的基本功能外，墙面采用蒙古特有的凹凸图案，在室内采用蒙古特有的色彩与室外相互呼应。

The Grand Opera House

The historical NaDaMu party has the meaning of “entertaining” or “play” in Mongolian; it is the traditional congregation in Mongolian culture which is hold in July or August of the Chinese calendar. Today, the Mongolian could hold their assemblies and parties without waiting for the specific season in this new building. The design not only satisfied the basic functions, but also applied Mongolian characteristic patterns on the wall, with their traditional color scheme inside to establish the relationship between the interior and the exterior.

新闻中心 由广播电台，电视台和节目制作及办公室三部分组成，在建筑设计处理上，强调三个体量的空间和各个部分的特色,在总体基调上，细节处理上有着微妙的变化。外表皮可以变成投影电台节目的出色幕布，是对外展示的最佳窗口。在大型集会的场合，结合中心广场营造人头攒动，开元盛世的美好景象。

Media centre

It is formed by the broadcasting centre, the television centre, and the program editing offices. In general, the design is concentrated on the spatial volumes and individual characters of the different parts, as well as delicate variations on the details. The external façade could become a large projection screen, a prefect showcase. During the large congregation, people could gather in front of the Media centre on the central square – a spectacular and glorious scene.

文化艺术中心  马背文化和其他文化构成蒙古的主流文化，这也决定了蒙元那种向往自由和朴实的特制。众所周知在世界上的主要城市，如纽约，伦敦等城市的艺术文化中心建筑都是该市精神面貌形象的标志。我们在文化艺术中的设计，力求简练和现代的风格，深色的墙面与周围灰白色的墙面形成对比，立面大比例的分割打碎整片实墙的肃重，对应室内的空间，使在建筑内部的人可以随光线的切换感受空间的流动和动感。

Cultural Arts Centre

The nomadic culture is the mainstream of Mongolian culture; it also decided the Mongolian characters which yearn for freedom and austere manner. Like New York, London and other international metropolitans, the architecture of the cultural arts center could always represent the image and character of a city. Therefore, the design is concentrated on the simple and contemporary style. The dark walls and surrounding grey created a strong contrast; the large scale divided façade could break the solidity, and echo the interior space. Thus, making people to follow the changing daylight and perceive the dynamic space within the building.

体育中心  这座占地28万多平方米的中心体育场工程 由主体育场，游泳馆，篮球馆三个部分组成，其中主体育场可容纳5万观众 规模完全可以承担市级，甚至省级的大型体育赛事，在平日一家老小也可以在这里进行不同的健身活动，如游泳和球类运动

Sports centre

This 280,000 sqm sports centre is made up by the main stadium, swimming hall, and basketball stadium, the main stadium has the capacity to accommodate 50,000 people, and capable to hold large scale urban sports activities. It is also a sports centre for the general public to enjoy swimming and other exercises.

博物馆  即历史与科技展览馆，是鄂尔多斯市乃至内蒙古科学文化对外展示的窗口。多切片的手法营造新颖的室内和室外空间，建筑本身也成为博物馆展示的一个组成部分。新馆将建设成为鄂尔多斯一座标志性建筑，将可以满足平均接待读者量1500人次/日，高峰期接待读者量为3000人次/日。

The Museum, i.e. the history and technology museum

It is the showcase for the technical culture of Erdos and even Mongolia. The multi-segments form created modern interior and exterior spaces, and the building itself is also part of the showcase. The new museum is aimed to be the landmark building of Erdos, with the capacity to hold 1500 visitors per day on average, and 3000 people during the high season.

图书馆 如同建筑是人类文化、艺术与科学三者共同孕育的结晶 ，图书馆建筑也不例外。图书馆建筑在某种程度上标志着一个地区的文化水平，一座城市的艺术修养和品位。

图书馆新馆将建设成为一个集学习阅读、信息交流、文化休闲等功能为一体的信息化、网络化、智能化、安全环保的、具有鲜明现代风格和蒙元文化的图书馆。同时，它将成为鄂市重要的知识信息枢纽和精神文明建设重要基地。设计藏书总量约100万册，座位4000座，日接待读者量10000人次/日  满足60万以上城市人口的文献要求。

Library

Architecture is the quintessence of culture, arts, and science, library architecture is the same. The library could represent the cultural and educational standard of a region or the artistic status of a city to certain extent.

The new library could provide reading, studying, information communication and leisure facilities, with comprehensive communication, internet, and security functions and Mongolian characters.

It acts as the communication interchange and the cultural development base. The designed collection capacity is about 1,000,000 books and 4000 seats. The daily visitors may reach 10000 people, and satisfy the archive collection requirement for a city with 600,000 populations.

尾声

在历史上，鄂尔多斯部落将铁木真成吉思汗的灵寝迁到伊克昭盟之后，岁岁按时举行祭奠，久而久之，这个地区从习惯上就被称为鄂尔多斯。在汉语为“很多宫殿”的意思；昨日创辉煌有不朽的丰碑见证，今日，踏着西部大开发的脚步，鄂尔多斯正在迈向辉煌的道路上，在康巴什新区 ，七大文化建筑将塑造全新的地区形象，现代，动感。鄂尔多斯人可以在这里尽情享受文化带来的乐趣和深度，在不久的将来，这里将在鄂尔多斯大发异彩，绽放新时代的“宫殿“的光芒。

The end

In the history, since the Erdos tribe moved the mausoleum of the Jenghis Khan to YiKeZhao Meng, they held the memorial ceremony for him very year; as time passes, the region was then named after the Erdos. It has the meaning “palace complex” in Chinese. The resplendence of yesterday was witnessed by the immortal monument, whereas, today, Erdos is developing dramatically in the background of the Western Development Program of China; at the new Kang Ba Shi district, these seven cultural buildings form a brand new image for the whole region, contemporary and dynamic. Erdos people could now enjoy the pleasure and profundity of culture, with the glossiness of contemporary Erdos “palaces” shining out from here in the near future!
